What is the Client Portal?
We are utilizing Canopy as our new Client Portal, a secure online platform where clients can safely upload and access documents, view and complete tasks, communicate with our team, and manage billing—all in one centralized location.

How do switch accounts in my Client Portal ?
If you have access to multiple entities, you can switch between accounts using the steps below:
1. Click on your Profile Name in the bottom-left corner of the portal.
2. Select the appropriate user profile from the dropdown menu.
3. Click on the personal or business account you’d like to view.

When and how often can I access my account information?
You can access your account anytime—24/7—from any location with an internet connection.
How do I view and print my documents from the Client Portal?

Log in to your Canopy Client Portal.

From the left-hand menu, click Files.
-
Locate the document you want to review. You can use the search bar or filters available.

Click the document name to open it.

Once the document preview opens, select Download (or the download arrow icon on the upper right side of the screen).

Open the downloaded file on your computer.

Print the document using your PDF viewer: File > Print (or press Ctrl + P on Windows / Command + P on Mac).

How do I upload a file to my Client Portal?
- Log in to the Client Portal and click the Files Tab
2. Click the ‘Add a file‘ button at the bottom
3. Select the file on your computer and click Open to upload it (alternatively, you can drag and drop files into the file location to upload them)
4. In the provided text box, enter a file name
5. Click save

What types of files can I exchange with you?
The Client Portal supports uploads of most common file types, including:

PDF files
-
Microsoft Word documents (.doc, .docx)

Microsoft Excel files (.xls, .xlsx)

Image files (.jpg, .jpeg, .png)
-
Text files (.txt)
-
CSV files (.csv)
If you encounter a file type that does not upload successfully, we recommend converting it to PDF before uploading or reaching out to our team for assistance.
*Please note that the maximum upload size is 4.999342 GB per file. Folders cannot be uploaded directly and must be zipped or compressed before uploading, as unzipped folders will not be accepted. To zip or compress a folder, right-click on the folder, select the Zip or Compress option from the menu, and then upload the newly created compressed file to the portal.*
What do I do if I forget my password?
Click the Forgot Password link on the Client Login page. Enter the email address associated with your account, and you will receive an email with instructions to reset your password securely. If you do not see the email, please check your spam or junk folder. If you run into any issues don’t hesitate to reach out to adminteam@capatacpa.com or call 949-364-0334.
How do I change my Password?

Log in to your Client Portal.

Click your Client name in the bottom-left corner.

Select User Settings.
-
Click Change Password.
-
Enter your current password.
-
Enter and confirm your new password.
-
Click Save (or Update Password) to finalize the change.
Please note: When changing your password, your new password must be at least 15 characters long and include at least one letter and one number. For security purposes, do not use your first or last name and do not reuse a previous password.
Is my Client Portal secure?
Yes. Canopy’s Client Portal is secure and designed to protect your sensitive information. It uses bank-level encryption and secure authentication to safeguard data during transmission and storage, ensuring that documents, messages, and personal information are protected at all times.
Can I log Into my Client Portal on my phone?
Yes. You can access your Canopy Client Portal from your phone using any standard mobile web browser. The portal is mobile-friendly, allowing you to securely view documents, upload files, complete tasks, and communicate with our team while on the go.
There’s also a Canopy Client Portal app available for both iOS and Android devices that lets you securely share files, complete to-dos, e-sign documents, view invoices, make payments, and communicate with your firm right from your phone or tablet.
To start using the Client Portal, you need to download the Client Portal app. Search for “Canopy Client Portal” in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
